The regular cluster meeting was held by conference call with 8 or so in attendance.
Dr. Holliday presented on Evidence Based writing. He talked about this perspective from the point of view of supporting arguments in academic writing. He spoke of Marie Fielder, Dr. Nicola Smiths mother, who was instrumental in the founding of Fielding and who introduced the concept of Evidence based writing. Dr. Holliday was able to draw from his legal background and highlight numerous examples of the way the jurisprudence system influences the ordering of arguments.
In support of his presentation he referenced a 2002 article in the Journal of Development Education by Richard Paul and Linda Elder, Distinguishing Between Inference and Assumption. A version of this article is available online at the web site of the authors.
Cluster meeting with Fielding faculty. Discussion of comps.
Today’s meeting was very informative! Let’s talk here!
One of the questions that arose from our conversation last month was how to manage your system when you start trying things and the don’t work. So, Glen and I have put together some basics for managing the desktop, web and collaborative environments. The outline is in this powerpoint presentation on managing, which will morph into a narrated version at some point in the next while. But for now, we’ll use it as a guide to our conversation on Saturday, March 17th via webex.
You will find the video recording of the 2/17 presentation here. It’s in several sections due to the length limitations on YouTube. I look forward to your comments.

…didn’t come through very well on WebEX, I’m hearing. I hope you will look at them again… you’ll find them in the blog individually and links to them in the powerpoint presentation.
Thanks.
